FAQ

The nearest grocery store is Mata Grande, a short 5 minute walk away. You can find them on line at http://www.matagrandegrocery.com/. They will also deliver to the house for a additional price. While the prices are reasonable for San Pedro, the supermarket in town is less expensive.

Often times, upon arrival, guests pick up duty free alcohol at the Belize City airport because prices on the island are higher. Warning, no liquor is sold (including at the airport) or served in Belize on holidays so if you arrive on a holiday, you may find some places that serve it later in the evening or possibly not until the next day.

From the Belize City International airport, you can get to the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye by taking a 15 minute flight to San Pedro on either airline:

Mayan Air http://www.mayaislandair.com/
Tropic Air https://www.tropicair.com/

Or, take a 30 minute cab ride to the water taxi terminal & take the water shuttle to San Pedro on a 1 ½ hour boat ride. The water taxi services are:

http://www.cayecaulkerwatertaxi.com $15.00 one way or $27.50 roundtrip ticket
http://www.belizewatertaxi.com $17.50 one way or $32.50 roundtrip ticket

Upon your arrival in San Pedro we will arrange your transportation to the house via a private boat. From there, you can rent the golf cart that is on the premises if you would like. There is a $5 toll roundtrip to drive across the bridge into San Pedro.

Getting Around

Water taxi around Ambergris Caye, to and from San Pedro: http://www.coastalexpress.com lists their rates, hours of operation, and drop off/pick up locations.

Climate

Although in a sub-tropical climate, the house generally has constant breezes that keep it cool.
Ambergris Caye enjoys the sun and heat of the tropics, but is cooled by the trade winds off the Caribbean Sea. Temperatures range from 75 – 95 degrees in the day, year round. The rainy season is May to February, with most of that falling in late afternoon and evening. While southern Belize may get up to 140 inches of rain per year, Ambergris Caye only receives about 40 inches per year. It would be a rare tropical vacation here that didn’t have more sun than you could want. The water temperature is almost always around 82 degrees.
